RRB: Retirement, Survivor, Disability, Unemployment, and Sickness Benefits The Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) administers retirement, survivor, disability, unemployment, and sickness insurance for railroad workers and their families. This report describes Railroad Retirement Act (RRA) and Railroad Unemployment Insurance Act (RUIA) eligibility requirements, benefit types and compensation amounts, and program financing. This report also covers temporary extended railroad unemployment benefits in the 2009 stimulus package (the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, P.L. 111-5), as amended, and temporary payroll tax relief for railroad employees in 2011 and 2012.
